HPD officer hospitalized after accident, to be released
A Houston Police Department officer is expected to be released from a local hospital tonight after being involved in a three-vehicle crash in northeast Houston, authorities said.
Officer T. Winn, en route to a burglary in progress in northeast Houston, hit a vehicle while crossing the intersection at Parker Road and Homestead Road about 4 p.m., police said.
Winn had his sirens and lights on when he crossed the intersection, but struck a pickup truck while crossing. He spun and hit a third vehicle before slamming into a pole, said Victor Senties, HPD spokesman.
Winn and the truck driver were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital-The Texas Medical Center for treatment. A third person involved in the three-car collison suffered no injuries, police said.
